Halloween cont. (10/20-10/22)
Here's a look at our second week of Halloween fun :)
Halloween Activities
* We had a lot of fun with some Halloween science. I froze ice cubes in Halloween molds. Some had baking soda added to them, and some had plastic spiders frozen in them. I gave the kids squeeze bottles of warm water, squeeze bottles of vinegar, scoops, and eye droppers.
They explored for a while until the ice cubes were melted. Then we had some fun with some bigger reactions with baking soda and vinegar.
* We've been practicing some Halloween songs. Some of the kids asked to sing it by themselves, so I got some videos.
* The kids played with playdoh and Halloween cookie cutters.
* We played Halloween tic tac toe.
* The kids decorated foam pumpkins.
Literacy
* We read some fun books this week: The Pigeon Has to Go To School, Monster Trouble, Time to Harvest (nonfiction), and Bedtime for Monsters.
* The kids worked on reading with their second sight word (like). We also did a little worksheet with like.
Math
* We did counting, pattern work, and number recognition with 11-20 on the calendar.
Fine Motor Skills
* The kids played with alphabet robots.
* The kids traced some pages in their workbooks. (I forgot to rip them out and send them home. Next week...)
Misc
* The kids played with vehicles on a map carpet.
* The kids played on the slide on the stairs.
Next week we will add on to their sight words and have our last week of Halloween activities.
